Front Adj. Shocks for a 79?

No one I have checked has adjustable shocks for a 79 SA. Is it the shock mount? What do I need to get adjustability on front shocks?

Change out the entire front strut to an FB one. Then you have more strut inserts to choose from.

Bilstein makes the front struts(non-adjustable) and they are saying the part # is the same for 79-85. I wonder if it has to do with a spacer that is involved. I wonder if it is like the Se models where the standard Kyb struts do not work but if you get the Tokico shocks they fit all the models including the Se.

There is nothing to connect. The strut fits inside of the strut housing. It has to do either with the lenght, physical size of the insert or the way it is is retained in the strut housing that makes it different.

You might be able to contact Tokico direct and get specs on the strut that they were supplying in the past. And who knows they may have a list of authorized dealers that you could contact that may still have some for the Sa on their shelves.

Konis

They go in just like any other insert. No problems.
I heard they may be out of production?

they are, but a place still sells what they have left. Some people have bought them but have had poor luck with them because they have been sitting on the shelf for so long. They are pretty cheap though.

I believe the website is www.classicgarage.com Check if they still have them. You CAN send them out to be rebuilt because they are good shocks.

I just checked their site. For konis for the early Sa they were only $23.00 apiece? That's dirt cheap.

Hello, I am looking at your Koni Adjustable Shocks for a 1979 Mazda Rx-7 and I have a few questions:

Are there any differences between front and rear shocks?
How long has the product been shelved/stored, if at all?
What kind of warranties do you supply for these products?

Thanks for your imput!

Yes, there is a difference, the fronts are strut inserts, the rears are shocks.
We manufactured date on these struts is probably 15 years old, they have been stored here for over 5 years. They will need to be stood up ont heir ends for 2-4 days prior to install to get any air out of the valves.
We supply a 30 day warranty on any Konis that do not qualify for Koni's lifetime warranty.

i heard that these adjustables are a pain in the bottom to adjust tho. i heard to adjust them, u had to adjust from the bottom of the shock? meaning once they're inside, u have to take them back out in order to adjust again?

that's true

but once the car is set up, how often are you going to adjust them?

even if they are crap, they still have a 90 day warranty. If they really are bad, then they'll fail well before then.
