Tap it carefully but solidly with a brass ended deadblow. Do not pound it repeatedly in one spot ( for obvious reasons ).

Or use a dead blow hammer, rotate from side to side and do not hit the gears, or too many times in the same spot............

Keep the center nut on a few threads to prevent the flywheel from becoming an uncomfortable hat when it pops off!!
Hit the flywheel on the very edge with a brass, lead, plastic or wood hammer. It should only take a hit or two.Its not the number of times you hit it,its the intensity of the hit that will pop the flywheel off the tapered mount.

yeah i want that video .. i think i will purchace one with my next paycheck.. does it come in dvd?

and this flywheel is about 2 inches thick so i dont think i have to worry about hurting it.. plus i wont be using it anyways.. the only things i will be using are the shaft and the rotors and housings.. no irons or anything else.. thanks for the advice

You're lucky you don't have an auto engine. Either that or I was incredibly unlucky - had to get the flexiplate off by putting an industrial gear puller on it, then a hot air gun, and finally belting the hell out of the end of the gear puller with a 12Ibs sledge hammer.

I wouldn't mind so much, but I nearly demolished the shed by using a jack and a 8 foot long piece of wood to wind the puller up with. Damn you mazda!!!

Fortunately not, but the shed never recovered. The leverage from the 4x4 wooden beam on the roof lifted the insulation up and lifted the roofing nails up. Thing leaked like a sieve all that winter.

I was going to sue Mazda, but then I realised that it was my own stupid fault.

Hope to god mine isn't that hard. My auto should be out this afternoon or sunday (depending on when I get to it) If I have to, I will just cut the flexplate loose. :P
