flooding

i recently gave bearth to my 84 gsl-se with a 88 non turboed 13b. it has a problem though. it floods as soon as i try to start it. sometimes i can get it running and after it's running for a little bit, it dies. to unflood it i unplug the + coil wires and pull the spark plugs. then i got crank the motor. the spark plugs that i pull out are soked in gas and have just a little smig of oil on them. why is the engine flooding with in the first couple revolutions of the engine? what can i check? i need u guys to save me b/c i've put close to $1000 into this car and my girl is pissed b/c she thinks it's a waste of money. i gota proove her wrong

Could be bad injectors, could be engine compression. You will have to have your injectors cleaned in case one or more is stuck open.

I've heard that the 2nd gen engines start having flooding probs due to low compression. I had a friend just put an "on/off" switch on the fuel pump on his car.

well the compression is good. i had it tested. all 3 stages of the compression are good. the injectors might eb the problem. what about the presure regulator on the secondary fuel rail? could incorrect vacum cause problems there?

you could check fuel pressure per factory specs. You are positive you are getting spark?
