Flooded ! -EGI is where?

From reading the unflooding procedures I cannot determine where the EGI fuses are. Is it the same as the fuel pump fuse under the dash or am I looking for the fusible link near the battery? The Haynes manuel is worthless. It has no mention I can find of EGI. I need a good description of exactly what the correct part to disconnect is and where it is located. Thanks for the advice for the newbie.

Go to the fuse panel under the dash. Pull out the fuse that is one down from the top right. I have to do this to mine all the time. Pull it out for a few seconds and crank it then replace it and crank it again. Mine starts every time.

FINALLY!!! Why did'nt some one tell me to do that when I was having flooding problems?! I was told to un plug the injectors. Which requires taking the whole upper intake off just to get to them. Have not done it yet. Seems to me that unplugging a fuse would be way easier. Do you guys have problems with yours flooding? This is the first time its happened to me. Any info is helpful. Thanks,

Jason

I think you could also pump the accelerator 5 times and then hold it down with the key in the ignition. I am not sure if that's the exact procedure, but it disables the FI so you could crank it dry.

Yeah, just hold the throttle down to cancel the injectors - a lot easier than pulling fuses, etc.

First try holding down the pedal, crank and start. Then you can pull the ENGINE fuse, crank a few, replace, and it will start. If even that fails, you may have to remove the plugs and dry them off.

Pulling the INJECTORS? Who the hell told you that?

Right on.

PS: If you have recurrent flooding build a hidden kill switch to the fuel pump....anti theft and flood killer all in one!

pull fuses?

Here's what i do: (i posted this response immediately to your post, twice, but it wouldnt go through):

1) flooded car. boo.
2) unplug blue plug on the frontmost coil (drivers side, rihght in front of wheel well).
3) turn on car. it will crank for a while, fire up, then the gas will run out or whatever. it will die again.
4) plug the blue plug back in.
5) car starts. driving happiness begins again.

Thanks for all the assistance. I got it started using all of your advice. My injectors probably need to be removed and cleaned and I need a new starter.

Why get out and pop the hood and start pulling wires when all you have to do to remove the ENGINE fuse is reach under the dash?

One time I turned left into the wrong way of the crossing street. When I put it into reverse I killed it. Then it flooded. Did the fuse trick and I was on my way before the light changed red.

Kill switch is the best option though.

Right on.

i may need to make that hidden kill swithc. any ideas of a clever way to do it? i know wher ei'd put the switch, but i just need to get info on your opinions.
