finished carburetor rebuild but it leaked fuel

Hi, I finished my carborator rebuild recently, I had time today to install it but as soon as I started it up it was to get it to idle with me giving it gas but after a couple of seconds I turned it off because it was pretty smokey, granted it hasn't started up in a month. but after I turn it off I smell gas coming from the engine then noticed that the carb was wet and had a small puddle of gas at the front and the back. and jump the pins and the fuel pump and let it run for a little bit and it seems like my gasket is the main cause, the one between the upper and lower body of the carb, but I'm still gonna have to double-check if I'm right, gonna have to wait until the next weekend or unless I find something that could fix my problem. any help would be appreciated.

Did you tighten it down to spec in a X pattern ? If you tightened it down in a circular pattern you F'd up.
