FC water pump in FB body?

so on my FC motor swap, i have an old nasty FB water pump housing and a cleanish FC pump housing.

if i were to use the FC housing, should I have any problem with routing the radiator hose? i figure i'll buy new hose and trim it to fit... i'm just having a hard time visualizing it with the engine and radiator out of the car.

Leave the FC housing it weighs about 10 lbs less then the FB one, just swap out you neck with the FC neck so you have a 1st gen neck on a 2nd gen motor.

The lower radiator hose will look to be too short when the FC housing is installed on your engine because the FC hose connection actually is a little shorter than the '74-'85 type. It's only maybe 20mm or 3/4" if I remember right, which probably won't be a problem.

Which impeller were you going to use?

Do you know about the alternator strap bolt difference?

i have an fc impeller that appears to be in good shape - no rust or anything. i suspect it's newish. shouldn't i use that on an FC motor?

and please tell me about the alternator strap bolt difference.

That's what I did and had no problems using the stock FB hoses. Also make sure you use the FC thermostat.

You didn't list all the details and what you inted to do, so I'll have to guess. Let me see... you want to install an FC engine into your FB, and you're curious as to which waterpump would be best. You see the obvious differences between the stud spacing on the FC pulley and the bolt spacing on the FB fan, thus your question on this forum. You were also hoping that someone would come along and offer free info, you know, for goodness' sake.

If I were you, I'd install the FC impellor and aluminum housing on an FC engine. That way, the alternator strap bolt will screw right into the engine. You'll have to use an FC strap though because it is longer and has the curve in the correct spot compared to an FB strap. The lower hose connection is a little shorter, but it shouldn't be a problem. As for the upper hose connection, just use whatever matches your hose. I suggest the steel GSL-SE one if it fits with everything else in the swap (I suspect it will).
