Be sure you launch good, and you'll pull alot on him. Hit about 4k rpm and redline, shift, redline, and shift. I doubt he'll be near you once your at the end of 3rd becuase you could hit damn well near 80 at the end.

Intrigues are not 2.8l. IIRC they use the 3.5l "Shortstar". (That or the 3.4l, but either way the last 2.8 was made *ages* ago)

Basically, prepare to be owned. I've seen them run at the strip, and unless your car is Not Stock and/or well tuned (tuning includes driver) then... well, sucks.

if your quick...and g=have good reflexes you can beat him for a while...enough to maybe make him make a mistake...then he is yours...I have beat a few 5.0L mustangs bu being faster off the light...making them nervous and having them grab 5th instead of 3rd. just dont accept a re match if that happens.

Did you mean 3.8L? That WAS an option for the olds. umm...I believe these are the numbers for the 3.5L

0-60 is around 7.8 and 1/4 mile are around 15.9.

around 215-220 hp and 230ft/lbs of torque.

Even Domestic family sedans aren't crippling slow anymore. I would have a challenge beating that with my Maxima.

Many minivans/SUVs can run low 16's/high 15's.

200hp is so common it's considered low anymore.

That is so true peejay. The intrigue has a 3.4L pushrod engine. About 180hp. I don't know if the 3.8L engine was available, but you would get owned big time if it has the 3.8. It has about 210hp and 240 ft lbs of torque (or something like that) in a 3100 lbs car. Unless your making some more power than stock, you would get owned so badly. I can tell you this much, my dad has an Intrepid with a 3.2L engine. It has only 220 hp and it goes like a bat outa hell. It weighs in at 3600 lbs too, and hits its 120 mph limiter in no time at all. Probably could easily hit 150 mph if it didn't have a limiter.

I got faith in the first gen. With just a few mods I ran a 300M and it was dead even in the 1/4. More mods and I got him. I can out run him till I hit 5th gear, but then he hits his limiter at 117 and I'm gone.

what are the specs of your car?

300M

0-to-60-mph acceleration, sec. 7.8
Quarter-mile acceleration, sec. 15.9
Quarter-mile speed, mph 87.0
60-to-0-mph braking, feet 118
600-ft slalom, mph 63.6

The one thing that sticks out on the 300M for me is 60-0 braking.

Now, this is the FWD model.

You won't be able to touch the new RWD one.

The new 300 isn't a 300M. Its a totally different car, but thats true. A 1st gen wouldn't be able to come close to a new 300C. The 300 on the other hand is not nearly as fast. It only has the 3.5L engine, where as the 300C has the Hemi.

BTW, don't forget that the 300M weighs in at over 3800 lbs too.

Yeah, 300C would smoke a 1st gen (and a bunch of other cars)

The 300M shows a curb weight of around 3600lbs. 3.5l with 250 hp. I posted the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times for a 300M.

7.8 and 15.9

The correct response is "so what?"

The trick is, you have to *mean* it.

Traditionally, sports cars have never been very quick, and could often be outaccelerated, outbraked, and even outcornered by contemporary sedans. That's not the point. The point is having fun.
