exhaust pipe size?

I am getting a RB header for my car in the coming weeks and i am thinking of doing a 2.25'' straight pipe cause i am going to reuse the muffler i got from ebay. But i got this thought now that what if i go to a 2.5'' pipe and get a magnaflow muffler on it. the car itself it stock untill i ge tthis header on. doing the 2.25'' saves me money but if i do the 2.5" will it gain me extra housepower or torque?

Im one for loud cars...but i wouldnt use just straight pipe...and the ebay muffler will just get burned up and sound crappy probably with a really metalic noise

I have a RB header and im going to get rid of my RB muffler and go with 2.5" pipe size with a magnaflow bullet style muffler right after the header to a single with dual 2.5" outlets and rather then mounting it in the back (like a normal muffler) im going to mount it just before the rear axle and carry the two pipes out the back (as my tips)....SO from the rear it looks like im running dual straight pipes but it will still be loud but have a low tone and mean look!!

well doing a 2.5'' pipe will it just make it louder and give it some more power?

it depends, like it was said above, what are your plans for the motor? Bigger exhaust doesn't always mean more power. If you have too large of an exhaust diameter, your exhaust will cool too much, loose velocity, and create more back pressure at the exhaust ports.

mod are just goin gto be the header and a direct fire unit thats it. i would rebuild street port and put a weber 48 IDA on it but i got emissions over here. i just want to put the header on it so it regains some more power. then after i save up my funds i want to do a TII swap and have 300hp in it.

If you're going with a TII swap later, save your money and reuse what you have, then go 3" with the TII.
