I visited the junkyard today, and they had 3 FCs. One was a pretty nice Red '88 GXL, with about 124k on the odo. Junkyard man said hed sell it for $800 out the door. The interior was pretty crappy, but other than that it was nice. There was also a red '88 TII, 115k on the odometer. This one looks like it had been hit in the front. The Fan was completely shot... I didn't ask him how much he wanted for the motor, he said it was most likely a "project" motor. Next to it was an '89, didn't see the odometer but the engine was in pristine shape. My question is, how much do you think the TII motor is worth with everything? How would I test to make sure it wasn't dead?

 

buy the TII motor and tranny. if junkyard man said it was a project motor give him project price.

Would the transmission I have now ('85 GSL, 5spd) mate to the TII engine? The tranny in the car was an auto, id rather keep the stick.

 

search threads for "TII swap". yes the tranny will mate but there is a **** load of other things to consider.

 

TIIs didnt come with an auto trans.....am I missing something here....is it a righthand drive car?

 

No, but the center console is most definitely an automatic shifter.... I guess if I want one of these engines I better act fast, he said hes sending the cars to the crusher next week.

 

Huh,TII with an automatic trans conversion.....cant imagine that lasted very long!
