Engine shaking like hell at idle plz help

OK, here is what I have done to the car. hopefully someone can give me some pointers on what to check out.

I have a 1985 gsl with a 1980 engine.

Intake is 1980
Engine is 1980
intake spacer is 1980
Carb is 1985
ignition is 1985
plugs are new

What happens is at idle the engine shakes really bad. When you step on the gas if you dont feather the gas it will stall. Feather as in lightly pump it till you can get it to rev up. drives fine other than that. It holds a perfect idle at 850 rpms. Just shakes to all hell.

Thanks,
Sean

I'm thinking vacuum leak or ignition timing.

air fuel really have no way to check. timings good checked that. intake leaks guess I could good through that again. I was afraid of a dead rotor. I think Im going to wait till I get the 48 ida. That way its a lot simpler. should be a month or so.

What are the symptoms of a dead rotor?

Usualy they will not idle. Last two I had I had to keep my foot on it to keep it idleing at 1500 anything else and it would die.

do a compression test, then you will know for sure if the motor is good or bad
