Its not that I really hate piston engine ... its just that there are plenty of forums out there that have v8 swap in rx-7s so they should go there .... i don't mind if they ask about OEM replacement stuff or how to do this and that on equipment that was already on a rx-7. But lets leave it as a dedicated rotary forum. This is why i signed up out of the other forums and i hope it stays like this. When you start mixing both as you can already see from the post people always just flame each other. Like this its less pages to go through too. Thats just my 2 cents on there.

RX-7 owners are very passionate about V 8 , OEM, and beehive oil coolers.

Go figure.

I do not understand the choices.
What is the correct vote for keeping the V-8 section on the forum?
If you choose "Yes, Just get those piston guys out!" does it mean eliminate the section and get the piston guys out, or yes keep it?

I meant to get them out of this particular section, I am not flaming by doing this poll, I am unbiased, so I thought I would see what everyone thinks...

they deserve a section..they are still driving rx7's..and some of the rides are very well done..that can't be denied
one forum policy should be though:
can't say they swapped because of reliability issues (false)
they swapped for big easy powa (fact)
if it was for reliability issues they would swap to Mazda/Honda 4 bangers 2liters or less
mostly for mpg

Well, the piston guys have to admit that they do have a temper. I have seen many a flame started by a n00b and instead of ignoring them, the conflict will escalate, until other forum members enter. Mostly because of *opinions* of a biased member. I think either we need to keep from being so either rotary extremists, or piston extremists. Both have there advantages, noone can deny that. But you cant go and talk smack to someone who loves their car, and not expect a retaliation!

I think we either need to get along and respect one anothers opinions, or seperate to some extent...

The problem I see is there is so much information to search through already, and then when the new guys or even experienced look up certain information, mabye all they see is the piston info and get confused.

Its really hard to say, but I know personally I wouldn't come here much if at all if I had intentions with a piston engine. I know a few guys that aren't on here and had a SB 350 swapped drag FB that is only cool for a few seconds at a time at a drag strip..

See what I'm kinda saying?

You guys do know that there is already a "other engine conversion" forum on here. Don't you?

It's essentialy a v8 forum.

Yeah, but we are talking about something a little more specific.

Realistically, this is an Rx-7 forum. they own Rx-7's so......

Just throwing it out there......

And unless you didnt pay attention to the "7's biggest competitor thread" and the "in an sa/fb a sports car?" we established no matter what the 7 is a sports car.

And nothing will change that...

So even if its got a different engine, and its only cool a few seconds at a time to "you" (you being the key word) does that make it any less a 7? I think it still retains the same badging

Since there already exists a sub-forum for RX-7 V-8 conversions, adding another one will not affect or stop people posting V-8 conversion topics in this section.

The first-generation specific section is different from the other sections of the forum in that any topic is allowed, even if it has nothing to do with RX-7 at all. It is a catch-all for topics that would accurately be in the lounge, general automotive, for sale, kills, and suspension/wheels/tires sub-forums.

Since that is the way people prefer it, there is no reason to add another sub-forum they would not use anyway.

It is useless waisting your time racking your brain about this.

I'm sorry, but it really isn't the profound "think piece" automotive ethics question you make it out to be.

Put what ever engine makes you happy in your RX7. We already have a section devoted to this.

End of story.
Stop standing on the shoulders of all before you who have beaten this topic to death.

a simple solution would be to ban anybody using the term "v8".

well as much as it was brought up in the last few forums it still is a problem, I was just bored and threw this out here. I am not trying to stand on anyones shoulders. I am just tired of the spew of mis-information from both sides. It seems like we are locked in an endless debate over whats better, and I really dont give a ****. I am happy with what I own, Midwest 7's is a perfect example of the rotary extremist, who probably has no clue as to what he is talking about. And you like me, are tired of hearing about it, and it is probably annoying the **** out of you. Am I right?

Odds are, the people that voted "I hate pistons" have never owned anything but a 7. It was their first car, and they've owned nothing else...

We HAVE a V8 section.

It's called the "Other Engine Conversions" section, located under performance. And God knows why nobody can find it, I move threads into there every week.

https://www.rx7club.com/other-engine-conversions-non-v-8-118/

Thread Closed.

There, it's now amended to the official 1st gen section rules thread, so that everyone can find the link if they need it. I took another look at the main page and realized that it's not the most obvious forum to find. Though it *is* under the performance section, which seems to be what all the v8 guys are griping about.
