maybe run 10-15% alcohol. lean the carb. ive heard of peple doing that, i have no experience with it. if you have an airpump, make sure it works. get a cat converter if you dont have one.

Are you still running a cat? Probably not. Heres what I would do. Its a little spendy tho, but I'm sure it'll get those numbers down. Mazdatrix sells a catalytic convertor that takes the place of teh presilencer in the RB exhaust system. I'd get that, and just hook up the air pump (reconnect it) to the air injection line without the ACV. I'm not sure on that part tho. Your car will probably run like **** at cruise however. But Its a temp solution that I think would get you to pass.

apparently in texas (dont knwo about tennesee), they avtively monitor the emissions testing. They may or may not be monitoring your car at the time of the test. The problem is, it will sniff super clean for an rx7 when its really a civic... its worth a shot though. probably the chances of being caught are slim, but the mechanic could get big fines if he is.

rxseven07,

dude, i just had the exact same problem last week (i'm also in nashville) my HC level was like 850. You think you might be running a bit rich? .... i think thats at least one of my problems.
Where in Nashville are you at?

edit: isn't there some kind of a product you can buy at walmart that 'guarantees' to pass emissions, or something?

yea then file a lawsuit against em when you fail lol. money money money. I love Florida. My boss tried to play a trick and said cops were looking for catalyic converters on cars. Didn't work with me I know better.

If you have the cats, but you're not running the air pump, you probably have cats that are not functioning. Replace the cats, verify that the air pump is pumping and the ACV is working, and you'll have a much better chance of passing the emissions tests.

well i guess there is no true solution. im in the brentwood area, off of nolensville road. i have a tan gslse. u might have seen it around. theres no way i can get new cats, just for the reason that im saving up for a new exhaust, racing beat. it would be pointless to get new cats. ill figure out something. where u located at?
