electrical issue, HELLLPP
ok. 85 gs. when i press on my brakes even if there is no key in the ignition the little rear defrost light lights up, and the signals and all the back lights inthe cluster and where the heater and radio is. i dont know why and i have looked at all the wiring and nothing looks out of place. also when im driving all the lights i mentioned above pulse and my turn signals are lit solid. and i will press my brakes and my friend tells me they are not lighting up. so please any ideas would be appreciated.

brake light
Go under the dashboard and look for this relay. Once you find it, open it up & look at it with a magnifying glass. Sometimes they lose contact. If so, resauder it. Also check if your brake lights are coming on in the back. If not check stop light switch which is located on top of the brake petal.

Double check the relay, it might have lost contact on the inside. Also check the electrical harness. Check the stop light switch, all bolts(you might have a wire connected that shouldn't be there).

If I'm understanding right, when you press the brake pedal, other stuff lights up, but not the brakes.
Check the ground for the brakes (at the bulbs/harness). Sometimes if the ground is faulty the current finds a path through other lights in the system.

odd thing is that the problem is completely gone now. i have no idea why either. i looked at it and thought the issue was behind the cluster. oh well, if it comes back, we'll let ya know
