dual pulley
I don't know if anyone here knows this, but I've been running a dual pulley on my altenator for over a year now but I didn't have to pay the usual amount that most people pay for one. All I did was get one off of a 1984 dodge caravan with the 2.2 liter engine. The pulley fits nice with no modifications needed. Just wanted to let you guys know just incase you didn' t know already.

You have a pic of what this pulley looks like? An 84 Van might be kinda rare also. Do you know if it came on any other years beside the 84? My local parts yard is pretty small and if it's not in high demand they crush it. Would this pulley be on any 2.2 dodge motor from the 80's? ANYBODY KNOW???

Dual pulleys are not necessary if you either:
Keep the air pump
or
Trash the water pump-driven fan in favor of an electric
Option #1 maintains positive belt drive on the water pump because the alternator belt only glances off of the water pump pulley, and it does so from the untensioned side. Option #2 goes to the root of the problem and eliminates the main load on the water pump pulley.
Go for option #2. It's sooooooo much better. Hell, even if you still hav an air pump, go for #2.

I dont have an air pump, or fan and i still get some belt slippage. I have made sure the belt is tight, and it was (it has always sliped) new.
Ill be going to the junk yard to find me one of the pullies!

its the alt pulley off of thats on the 2.2 liter engine. Its the same diameter and everything and I've been running it and my friends have been running them longer than I have. I don't know if they came on any other dodges but, I'm pretty sure you can find a dodge/chrysler caravan in the junkyard because when I went and got mine there were about 5 or 6 there. Not all of them had the right motor though.

The pulley is available on Dodge caravans with the Mitsubishi engine (and alternator).
I pulled the whole Alternator off and used it with the pulley. (you can swap out the pulley too... it's the same diameter.) The alternator is 75 amp and plugs right into the stock FB wiring.
I've seen this alt in 86-89 Dodge Caravans. Most Junk yards only charge 8-10 bucks for an alt.

NOTE: The above post said 75 AMP!!! That's why I decided to go ahead and use the whole alt... you do have to notch your alt. mount so your dizzy can still turn. It's an easy 1 hr job, max.
