dual belt alternator pulley won't fit

Recently, I purchased this pulley from Rotary Performance-

- and I tried to install it, and it won't go onto the alternator, it seems that the output shaft of the alternator is too short or something. Am I missing something? BTW, it's a rebuilt SA alt. from victoria british. As far as I know, it's the same. Could the pulley be some "FB" only thing (that NO ONE seems to specify), or does it not matter? Can I see some close up pics of installed ones?

Thanks

Here's a pic of it, just because-

PS
If it won't work, I'll sell it to somebody for 40 bucks

In your attached thumbnail pic, that is the forward side of the pulley. The mounting nut nestles inside the pocket. Are you sure you aren't putting on backwards?

My RB one would not fit. the hole was just a little to small for the shaft ( Story of my life) A little time with a file and then it fit, Not ieal but it worked.

when i put mine on i had to bend the lock washer alil bit so that i can get some bite on the ttreads of the shaft.

lol, you notice the little led light, but not the .50 caliber bullet

anyway, i think i might have a problem-

i filed out the hole in the pulley (alas, my shaft was too big as well) and when I put on the pulley, it wobbled. Apparently, I didn't file it out evenly enough. I put the alt. back on anyway (with dbl. pulley) but haven't started the car or anything. Is my belt just going to break every time I try to drive, or will it be okay?

yeah

i think the hole is off center due to the fact that i had to englarge it

i'm hoping this won't cause to many problems, but i'm worried

The only way to get it spot on is to use a lathe. It sucks how it's only 1mm shaft size difference between the early and later model alternators.

do you think if I could get someone to lathe out the correct diameter in the exact center, it would work? I know it wouldn't be perfect, with the screwed up hole and everything, but would it be any better if the correct hole was there?

jeez, doesn't rotaryperformance and racingbeat know about this? do they care, if they do know? i bet they're just like, "eh, there's only a few SA guys out there, so we'll just shaft em'"

if it doesn't work, then there's $50 down the drain

and i still didn't get my 79-80 SS clutch line from RP. someone is going to get an angry e-mail.

why not? more amperage is always better - faster window movement, brighter lights, more voltage/amperage for the igntion system,

more power for stereo too

If the wobble is much at all you're going to be wearing on your alt bearings. Then you will have tossed 50 bucks, plus the upgrade to a later alt.
