does a 12a have the same driveshaft has a 13b?

It depends on the years, I know for a fact that the GSL-SE's driveshaft does not fit on a 81 but after 83 I belive its the same thing.

I thought the GSL-SE's have a bigger driveshaft? I'm not sure tho.

An -SE driveshaft should be the same as a '83-85 12A driveshaft. Same length, same transmission splines, same pinion flange.

'79-82 driveshafts have different pinion flanges from the '83-85 models. The driveshafts are all the same as far as length and the trans yoke are concerned (not counting auto cars), and the pinion flanges are interchangeable too, so you can put a late shaft in an early car by changing the pinion flange (preferably by installing a complete rearend ). Or vice-versa, if you like that sort of thing.

I am going to purchase an 84' parts car hopefully, and i belive it is a 12a.. I need a new driveshaft and i was hoping to be able to use it off that car.

Are they aluminum or steel. And if they are steel how muxh would an aluminum one cost
