well if your only changing the head gasket then none will come out but if you change the valvecover gasket that's another story.
LOL rotories don't have head gaskets or valve cover gaskets.

If you drain it all, its 10 quarts (2.5 gallons) including the heater core, but uh, I dont think you'll get that much out of it. Thats the maximum though, so better to be safe than sorry .

PS - What ARE you changing? Rotaries really DONT have head gaskets... Maybe an intake manifold gasket? Thermostat gasket?

When I said Head gasket, I meant intake gasket, the one where it meets the block went bad. Started steaming after a 100 mph run on the highway, antifreeze was just dripping out when I opened the hood. Didn't overheat, luckily. I had just woken up, sorry about the mixup.

I think I put in somewhere around 2 gallons of mixed coolant last time I drained the system.
Oh btw, don't forget to change the timing belt, check the headlight fluid, and adjust the valve lash. Sorry, couldn't help it.

About a gallon if you drain it by just removing the intake manifold and letting it pour out. I think a bit more if you use the drain plug in the center housing.

If you are leaking around the intake.....(head).....gasket, make sure to change your o-rings in there. Most likely that is where you are leaking from. I think you can get them at mazdatrix or racing beat.

good god. I am familiar with the wonderful power behind my car. Yes I understand how the rotary works, and that there are so many spark plugs because of the really long combustion chamber.

TrineonX, I read your other post. You have a GSL-SE fuel injected engine. You need to let everyone know when you post. You have the 13B engine. It is not the same animal as most first gens.
There are no Orings in the intake on the 13B.
