No Leak is cheaper.

80 original 12a w/about 80-thou on it. Dowel leak slight, enough to fog side of engine in a week (so not a huge amount, just enough to drive me nuts trying to keep engine clean) treated with the No Leak. Noticed almost immediate improvement (couple 100mi). Now down to a few drops/week; been 2yrs/ 10K mi

Why use it? It's a band-aid fix. It's better to rebuild and get some new dowel pin o-rings in there. You have peace of mind, and it's fun to rebuild. I thought that would have been pretty obvious to anyone. But then the popularity of this thread speaks otherwise.

Yes it very well could cause problems with oil seals. How bad is your dowel pin leak anyway? Can you live with it for while?

Well if it needs a rebuild anyway, why would you worry about what it does to the oil control ring o-rings? I would think it has the same effect and swells the rubber and seals better.
The temporary/band-aid fix "opinion" has been addressed quite well earlier in the thread.
I have 218k mi. on an 81 with a bad dowel pin leak. I will try the no leak, and if I get 10k leak free miles I will be happy. I tried some other stuff and can't recall the name but it didn't work.
