Does anyone import JDM FBs into the US?

If this has been covered many time before please forgive me. Somebody asks a question like this in the 3rd gen section on a weekly basis. I'm just wondering if people are importing the FBs into the US and registering them because they're older than 25 years. My first car was a 1980 GS and I've already wanted another FB. I would assume all the cars from Japan have been scrapped but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask if there was a source for good FBs coming into the US. I know there are plenty of US-spec cars for sale but I was thinking it would be cool to have something a little more unique.

From what I understand Japan itself has strict taxes on old vehicles so your thought on most having been scraped are probably correct, and there’s prob no good money in exporting them out since there were so made. there was a 12A Turbo version outside of the US so it would be cool to have something like that but its probably not gonna be something that can be done maybe someone else here has another answer.

Your 1980 was actually an SA. Slightly different than the FB's with the intergrated bumpers.

ive actually seen a few JDM 1st gens, most importers don't list em because its not a skyline, but they can be had from $2000-3000 us, they do suffer from the same rust/wear as a US car though

Contact JDM Legends.
He has been importing JDM cars for a couple years. He's imported a 12a Turbo model Rx7 and a '67 Mazda Cosmo in the past.

Thanks guys for the input. I figured not many would be imported but I was hopeful that a few nice ones still exist elsewhere. It's probably better to find a nice US-spec but I will check out JDM Legends. Ideally I'd like a nice GSL-SE but really the most important thing to me is that it is in good to very good condition without rust. Mine had some rust around the sunroof and under the rear insulation because the sunroof leaked.

A Japanese-spec Turbo 12a would be an awesome, rare car to have here in the US. I've always wanted one.

That is what I had in mind. The green 1st gen in the Mazda Museum got me thinking about owning one again.

If you guys haven't seen this yet, check it out.
