do I need the sub-zero start assist?

I'm removing the carbuerator right now and I'm thinking, can I just get rid of this thing? It doesnt even have any fluid in it and I dont ever plan on driving this car in sub-zero temperatures.

thanks for the info, but i dont drive this car in winter anyways. If I do it wont be hard to put back on. But it is surprisingly hard to get the two bolts off. I had to remove practically everything else from that corner of the engine bay to get to the bottom one. Its gone now though, and that makes me feel good.

Yeah id say toss it unless its working, i live in alberta and its been running fine without it. I plugged the thing back in today actually, and it just ran like **** wouldnt idle worth crap so i disconnected it and its good to go again. But latley its been fairly warm out ex: from around the worst being -10 to about +5...... too bad its getting colder out now so i think im gonna have to park it again and drive the truck.

The container says mix 90% aluminum glycol **** with 10% water. I havent filled it up myself ever before but theres still some left in it, maybe one day ill pump out the garbage stuff and put in new. As for the running time of this thing, is there some sort of thermal switch that clicks in and holds on until the engine is warm or does it just give it just pump it in at start up?

Mazda actually recommended removing it in the FC and FD. Toss it. Most of them don't work anyways.

hey, I've been told that the part actually heats the car interior. is that even true? cause it dosent seem like it.....also, if it isnt below zero will the coolant be released same as if it was?

no thats not true i dont see how it would be bc it squirts a lil coolant on the compression chamber to keep the seal lubed!

I've driven two RX-7s in the coldest weather imaginable and the cold-start assist doesn't make a lick of difference. It's just another point of failure in a crowded engine bay full of them. Pull it and never look back.
