What coils do you guys reccomend with the DLIDFIS setup? Car has a S5 13b with side draft and I want to get the ignition right.

I used the blaster 2 coils for leading and a regular 12v for trailing....it works great ,the engine runs super smooth and no stinky smell out of the tail pipe.

I read somewhere that Blaster 2 coils werent meant for long duration sparks. I have a pair of them that Im going to try anyway. I have an 85 dizzy 3 coils but I dont have any ignitors. The reccomended ones are J109 but isnt there a cheaper GM ignitor that you can buy new.

nah, you can get away with stock coils. After having to do different type of ignition system, I feel that blaster coil is only a HYPE and a waste of hardearned $$$.

GM HEI ignition modules are what you're looking for. You can find them at Autozone. DR100

Stock Diamond coils or Bosch aftermarket coils work. They need to say Transistor ignition. Don't use the type which call for an external resistor because their inductance, internal resistance etc are designed for points.

I read in some posts that the Blaster coils need to remain upright, at least for some models, or they will leak.

yes. any oil filled are supposed to have an upright bracket, but epoxy filled (High vibration) coils can go in the stock locations.

Years ago I used Blasters in the stock location without a problem. They are oil filled but so are the standard coils.
