your trying to do the two of hardest welds. the t joints i can see look like there way to cold as if the weld is sitting on the metal.

i would grind the welds down and go over them. looks like your trying to move way way to fast. i weld for a living, and done stuff like this on cars before. you dont want any problems trust me .

when the puddle gets little smaller then 1/4 round start moving. if its two hard for you to do that cheat. make a spot weld 1/4 round then move a 1/8.

Stripped the back of the car down to metal and por-15'd it all, then went over it all with a nice coat of paint. Gonna take my rearend over to get the guts setup tommorow. Then, time to bolt everything in and get the brake lines setup.

Welp, rearend is complete built and DONE, finally. Too tired to install it today.

Had the pinion, lash and everything setup yesterday and threw together some brake lines and buttoned everything down today.

and it wouldn't be right if I didn't post a out of focus picture

I'm still trying to decide what to do back there. Weld in sheet metal or rivet in the sheet metal. I like the idea of being able to remove it down the road if I want to, but I don't want it to be real noisey back there. Whatever I put down back there, it's going to be carpeted.

Any ideas guys?

you could rivet down the piece, or pieces, and just coat them with dynomat before hand. that way theyre removeable but still offer sound deadening. with the dynomat and carpet you should be fine.

Got everything bolted down this weekend. I wasn't able to finish my diagnal link (locator) because I'm waiting on a fine thread 5/8 tap to be delivered to me. I couldn't find one locally.

So, I got bored and chopped up a cardboard tub.

Looks nice, though in my paranoia I probably would have made it sit a little higher up, the fuel cell and pump that is.

I really had no choice since I didn't want the fuel cell inside the cabin....

Looking real good, nice work Eric.

It's hard to tell the depth perception from the pic but are you going to have enough room to work on the differential gears and remove them with the gas tank right behind it? It just looks really close from the pic?

The pictures are deceiving. I "should" have enough room to get the girdle off. If not, I can unbolt the shocks and drop the rearend down.

Something kinda funny, if I ever want to remove the wheels.......... the shocks have to be unbolted and the whole rearend has to be dropped. Having a car with tucked wheels is a pain in the ***......

pain in the ***, but looks sooooo sweet. I had about 6 1/2" of total drop on a lancer. got a flat and had to jack up the other side to get a jack under the flat side., and extend the coilovers all the way up to change a freakin tire. The susp didn't drop down but 1/2 inch when you would jack her up.

I'm diging the look. Its like an amercan muscle import tuner hybrid. Pro street/ pro mod is one of my favorite things in muscle cars. and sevens are my favorite import. its a double win.

I was never able to roll the car around because the rearend would wander around....... because I didn't have diaganal link (Locator) installed.

Well, today I finally made a diaganal link so that I could finally roll the car outside. I also ran some fuel line and other misc little stuff. Need to order some AN Fittings today so that I can hook the fuel system up permanently..

Now that I see it resting on its own legs rather than on stands, that fuel cell isn't as far down as I though it was. But that exhaust sticks out like a sore thumb... was that intentional?

Well, the exhaust it a big peice of crap. The downpipe was loose so that's why it's hanging low right now. When it's all said and done, the exhaust will be tucked up like normal.

Still not sure what I'm going to do about exhaust, I don't have much room back there with the 4 link and fuel cell.

Dual Side exhaust with real flame spewing action? Imagine this; you're on the street at a red light and it turns green, you pop a wheelie throw some flames and char that mustang next to you and beat him down the street.

Priceless...
