What is the part # for the leading coil pack off of a 2 gen needed to do the direct fire conversion on a 1st gen. Does anyone have one for sale? Shipped to 65742

You don't want to buy one new from the dealer. Trust me. Here's to hoping somebody here has one for sale.

unless you're planning on spending a few hundreds of $... check mazdatrix for their price and number, it's VERY expensive.

Go to a boneyard or check ebay. I got one at a boneyard for about $20 and a complete 2nd gen set (leading and trailing) on ebay for about the same price. Not sure what the %^*k I'm gonna do with the trailing coil pack, but maybe someday ...

I got a leading coil off of a parts car. You'll know it's a leading coil because it has dual outputs.

Trailing has two seperate single output coils on a single basemount type thing and they share a single ignitor which switches between them according to a signal from the ECU. I have one trailing coil which I'll hook to the trailing circuit of a twin-dizzy '73 12A that's been upgraded to a single FB distributor. I'll figure out a way to use the FC trailing ignitor to spark one coil only (83turbo knows how to do this). I'll also hook the leading coil to an MSD 6AL (for the rev limiter). There is no way I'd hook an MSD to two seperate coils as some people have done (I prefer full amperage, if you know what I mean).

Ok. I get it. Maybe this will help. Leading coil pack is on the left; trailing coil pack is on the right. As Jeff20B noted, the leading coil has two posts.

So does anyone have one they want to sell? How much to 65742? That is really the only major thing that I will need isn't it?

I agree with brianhsval. Try a junk yard. Have you checked ebay? I have a spare coil, but not willing to part with it at a reasonable price.

As far as what else you need, check this thread for complete instructions:
