its rustin out in the bins, the bottom of back right fender behind the tire, and under right/left front fenders, nothing real bad yet, i sanded it all down and redid it (except bins), but i'm guessing that'll be just a temporary fix.

Make sure that you grind/sand the metal to a point beyond where the rust actually was. Otherwise, it will return rather quickly. Two to three centimeters into clean, unaffected rust is a good approach. What are you using to recoat the metal?

yeah, i sanded down bout an inch and a half around the affected areas, i used rust killer primer and crappytire exact match paint, then i coated in behind with undercoat spray, its not too noticable, and i'm not going to be winter driving it so i hope the rust doesn't come back till i can afford to fix it right. by the way where's chesley? i'm in fergus 30min north-west of guelph.

It's about 25 minutes south of Owen Sound; 15 minutes north of Walkerton and Hanover.

I'll be in town sometime this month, if not early September. I've got a buddy who moved there several months ago. I can usually cover the distance in an hour-fifteen. There's some nice paved shortcuts between here and Mount Forest.

Brings back memories--- my first 1st gen was an '81 GX (GSL) with the exact same interior and seats. Exterior was metallic red and even had the headlight sprayers on the front bumper.

BTW, is the uphoulstry in the hatch grey or is that the stock color being altered by rear window tinting?

yeah, the back carpet isn't original, what was there before was all rotten, i pulled what u seen now out of a car at the wreckers, so i dunno who made it, it fits pretty good, like ryan said it's made of office carpet, but for 20$ i can't complain

Because of the increased cali emissions there was an extra vaccum line to make 6 of those multicolored things instead of the normal 5.
