Diff+Tranny Woes
Hi Guys and Girls.
I have a question or 2 to ask concerning my `82 Rx7 GSL
1.My tranny is starting to go out.It is fisically impossible to shift back from 3rd,to 2nd gear when driving.Only when going 25mph or slower, does it go in.(I think it`s due to a worn down selector fork)It is allso starting to sound a bit funky. It does not grind going into any of the gears
2.My Diff wines, and really needs to be attended to
Ok,now the questions :
Will it be worth it to remove the tranny, and try fixing the selector fork?Anyone done this before,or have this part of a manual to share?
Does anyone have the clearances that i need to set the diff to,to stop the whinning?
Thanks for reading
Karis

Sorry cant help with your problems, but I also have a whining diff...
From what you say it sounds like you are able to stop it whining without replacing it, am I correct?
Cheers,

Hi!
Sometimes it is possible,by adjusting the shimming of the Diff. It`s a hard as hell job aparently, but it is possible. What normally happens:The backlash goes out of adjustment (From what i understand:Is the whinning is we are hearing),which can be rectified by fitting the correct sized shims. The shims that are getting replaced, get worn over time from use
Glad to see some other RHD Rx7`s here!
