Dellorto DHLA Float

Did some searching, figured was good to start a thread to see if others have had this problem.

I've been running a Racing Beat DHLA 48 for ~5 years now on my Streetport 12A and really like it. Has not given me many issues, runs well, and serves as my summer daily driver.

Recently, after driving for an hour then letting the car sit for an hour, it wouldn't start. Figuring I had somehow flooded it, I pulled the plugs and it seemed very flooded, like more than what the accel pump could do... Further troubleshooting and I can see it was overflowing, like as if it had too much fuel pressure.

Fuel pressure and regulator are spot on, ~2.5PSI. Looking at the float, it appears small cracks are starting to expose the foam type material and I presume float has started to sink.

I have a new spare float in pretty good condition, but they seem to be getting harder to find, I have yet to try out the re-manufactured variety that you can find easily.

And yes, I do have a modded Nikki on the shelf...but for some reason just like the DHLA.

I get the love for the DHLA. I have a modded nikki on my SA right now and it actually has much better drivability and performance than my Dell ever had but I miss the sound the Dell makes. So sweet!.

Anyway, you can probably get new floats at dellorto.com https://www.dellorto.co.uk/shop/dell...loat-assembly/. They are in the UK but I've sourced parts and rebuild kits from them in the past and have had very good experiences.

The floats on my DHLA started falling apart as well, bought replacement set from the UK as described by TG. Works great... Gotta love those twin choke carbs!

Ok this is good feedback, so far I was a bit weary of the "Eurocarb" branded aftermarket replacements. They look to be good copies of the originals and the feedback on them is good to hear.

I have a NOS original Dell part that I will put in for now.

The Nikki I have is an original Sterling Modded nikki. Maybe I will get the parts together for it and try it out, just wasn't sure of jets available and how to set it up for my Streetport 12A.
