Damn choke... Need help ... AGAIN ! lol

Hey guys. Eric here with another minor, but yet VERY VERY arrogating problem lol: My choke won't stay out: You pull it out, then it automaticly retracts in, as it would with the electrical choke when the engine gets warm enough. This isn't a huge problem because my freshly rebuilt engine idles and puurrrrs at a perfect 850 rpm :P ( Just where I like it :P) But still, we get chilly eavenings here and I don't like my baby to get too thirsty when she's cold :P Thx alot !

The choke stays out via electro magnet. When the bimetal spring on the choke linkage reaches an appropriate temp, it hit's a switch that cuts power to the magnet. The choke pops in.
Look for that switch and make sure it's connected.

Theres a sensor on the back of the water pump housing that tells the choke when to be off or on. Make sure its connected.

worse comes to worse cut a small piece of fuel hose, split it down the middle and slide it inbetween choke **** and dash to keep the choke open.

"when in doubt - jury rig it" DriveFast? Yeah, methinks we're familiar with that idea... Hell, The_dude's windshield washer is rigged to a moment switch he picked up at radioshack because that function of his combo switch died!

i have a choke question, after i put in my new engine, When i pull the choke, the butterflies close properly but the idle speed isn't altered at all, what controls give the throttle a boost? What should i look to replace or connect?

Shame shame Sterling, TJ is right. Its the water temp switch on the back of the water pump housing that drops off the electromagnet for the choke.

Matty, theres a fast idle rod that comes off the choke. Its at the back of the carb. It runs vertically from the choke shaft down to the throttle linkage. Look in the manual on the adjustment.

And for that rigging comment : My whole car is staring to be rigged lol ... I actually had my car amp hooked up to the gas pump :P Now it's on the same circuit as my home-made washer pump ! hooray for easy-thinking :P

...like the subzero starting fluid injector? ...and the hot start assist?
These things are for non-sportscar drivers who thought it'd be cool to own a sportscar.

(A choke is a choke, on the other hand. This I can see the need for.)

Well, the hot start assist actually helps a little bit ( for me :P ) When I'm in a hill and I can't press the gas ( cuz my e-brake is screwed up ) it gives it just that little pull to start it up. + The subzero fluid TANK is usefull for running 2 stroke in the car. So technicly, it's there for something :P

How do you get rid of it? By putting in a 13b loll. But I want mine to work ... I looked at it quickl yesterday, couldn't seem to find anything wrong for now. I'll unplug and kinda wash every wire, then check em' out for possible shorts.
