cross reference help

I used to work on aircraft, and we used "AN" spec o'rings on airframes and engines. They were top grade, but way less $ the I see at some overhaul parts web sites. Does any one know of a chart to cross Mazda PN orings to something better priced?

you'd have to measure. the part number does have a size in it, but its relative.

9954-10 is an oring part number, and 9954-10-3801 is bigger than 9954-10-1601, but it doesn't give you a diameter, or the thickness of the oring either.

Is there something special in the rubber compound of Mazda orings or just a special sizes that make them so expensive?

They are magical rotary affiliated o-rings!

What exactly do you need o-rings for?

I need to assemble an S5 13bt for my GSL-SE upgrade. I purchased the engine in 3 boxes it included some new parts and serviceable used parts. I need most of the orings and a few of the gaskets to put it together. Example $20 for 4 dowel pins orings seems wrong.

well basically they are

1. metric
2. not made here
3. there are probably 3-4 middlemen involved.
4. the dollar is not worth what it used to be, and is going to be worth less in the future

Maybe just drop the 300 bucks for a full gasket set, so youll have spare sruff left over lol. I have 12a gaskets hanging all over my garage from those things. Never know when youll need them...

I'd try to stick with the Mazda ones, since that's what they were made with and would be exactly what the engine needs. Yes, you'll pay more, but it would save you money to pay more for gaskets than to get another motor because of a catastrophic failure due to an o-ring failure!
