could I really be this dumb
Who's up for a good laugh at my expense? well, after struggling to get the throttle body taken off my engine so I could replace my supposedly faulty intake gasket, I noticed that the heater hose that runs right in front of the firewall had poorly repaired split in it, and what else, a puddle of antifreeze beneath it. Whoops, I guess I'm a dumbshit. I got my car so i could learn how they worked, and who doesn't love to do something the hard way.

Translation: He thought his leak was coming from one place and so he removed lotsa **** only to find that he could have repaired it without going through all that grief if he'd just opened his eyes first. Better ?

Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.
But some people need way more "experience" than most of us do before the light bulb finally goes on.

I have leaky brakes on my car. Every time I get in the car, the first thing I do is push on the brake pedal to see if there still good.
So when I start to work on the brakes, I have disassembled the callipers from the disks, I get in the car for a break, and again, the first thing I do is push on the brake pedal to test the brakes and pop the cylinder out of the calliper!
Now I know why mechanics put cars up on a hoist to work: It's not an ergonomic thing, but a way to protect themselves from stupid mistakes.

I have suggested to knew RX-7 owners for years that as soon as they get the car home they should almost completely disassemble it and go through each hose, belt, wire, connection, etc etc..
this is a nice way to learn, and find those stupid little things.
I have a whole list of small reliability Mods (most of which you guys do as well) for these RX-7 newbies.
I haven't seen it posted in a while, but maybe we should start a new thread of <85 reliability Mods.
