Coolant Level Warning Light/Buzzer

My coolant level warning light and buzzer comes on frequently. Coolant level is up to max, have fitted new radiator cap, and temperature gauge always sits at about one third when engine is warm. Thought it might be a dodgy sensor, but yesterday I diconected it and warning light/buzzer stayed on. Any ideas???

Disconnecting the sensor will make the light stay on.

I'm guessing the sensor is bad.

You learn something new ............

Didn't realise the light would stay on - makes sense though. Will have to source new sensor - are they still available from Mazda dealers off the shelf? Parts availability seems a bit limited here in the UK.
Thanks for the reply.

I know because I broke mine and drove around for a few days without one.

I would assume the dealer would have them, got mine from an aftermarket supplier and don't remember if it had a Mazda label, but with the current exchange rates, it may be cheaper to get it from the US

I had the same problem when I bought mine, I took the lazy man's way out, I cut the sensor of and soldered the wire to the connector. NO problems since! (Just make sure you check your coolant levels once in a while)

take the wire and ground it to a bolt .that wire acts like a ground. it isn't hot it grounds thru the water into the radiator into the frame. it will go off permanently!!
but you will have to make sure you keep a good eye on the water. my car is grounded because you dont need a idiot light if you know your car ...

But a waterhose can break so it's handy for that or if the cap is not put on properly.
