coolant drain? i know you know this
hey guys. I'm trying tofind the coolant drain. The manual has a crapy drawing. I've drained most of the coolant from the lower hose, but would liketo find that drain.
Also, any sites with detailed coolant flush instructs?
Thanks, Bennett

Old [Sch|F]ool
It's a little plug on the side of the engine, at the bottom of the center housing, below the oil filler/dipstick. It can be hard to spot on cars with air oil coolers, but you should be able to see it OK.

Yes, it is 14mm and is at the lowest point on the intermediate housing below the oil filler tube and dipstick. It is right above the oil pan (yes, it's real low and covered with oily dirt). The oil cooler hose is really close to it, so you might have pretty good luck using a box wrench (but I do prefere the rachet because it's quicker).

don't use coolling system flush
i was told that the best way to clean the radiator is to take it out and flush it with degreaser.i used the purple stuff.flushing your system with that radiator flush running through a rotary motor is real bad for the seals.my mechanic said never use it.i take my radiator out once a year.looks as clean as the first time i did it.going 3 years on rebuild 35,000 + miles.

I only use a tad of antifreeze in the summer. I flush the system in the spring and summer. 20/80 Anti-freeze to water in the spring and 50/50 in the fall. And ALWAYS used distilled water. I get mine from my de-humidifier in the basement.

found it
I found the drain after some digging and scraping. I'll put a pic for reference if I ever find my camera. Anyone draining should note that the coolant drain is smaller than the main oil drain (about 13/16" or something) ! Trial and error on my part

Yeah I know you guys are right but the nut was misshapen somehow (probaly from someone using a 13/16" ) anyway, the metric size wouldn't fit. I love working in metric.
