constant buzzing, need help
Hi guys,
i have an 84 gs, and if i put in the fuse for the hazard lights i get constant buzzing from my cluster. If the door is open and key in ignition, there are two buzzes.
Now i get this buz if the car is on, or not. I am thinking this could have something to do with the fact that neither my hazard lights or turn signals are working, but just wanted to find out if anyone know what this could be caused by.
I plan to pull all the wiring and relays from my 83 tommorow and see if i can locate the root of my hazard/turn signal issue, but till then please be kind to me

i believe it may be your oscillator, which i forget what it does, i believe it warns you when your fluid levels get low and all that good stuff. it's a black box looks like a relay located infront of the battery beside the driver's headlight, can't miss it, it says oscillator on it, and its black. unplug it see if goes away...

A lot of times just unplugging it and plugging it back in fixes the problem, I think the connections get a little corroded and the bad contact makes it start to act up. That's what I've done the last few times it happened, usually in cold damp weather. I think the oscillator has something to do with some warning signals so it might not be a bad idea to have it working.

I think their biggest downfall is moisture. I didn't have any problems with mine until after washing the engine bay, and I've read of others who developed the issue after a heavy rain. I would consider drying it out, then giving the oscillator and the connection a heavy dose of undercoating to help seal it up....

Well, went to the garage today, pulled the oscillator, and the buzzer was still there. I then proceded to pulling the hazard/turn relay and the buzzer went away.
I think the buzzer was there to notify me of the failed relay. I replaced it with the one from my 83 and it worked fine, only issue is one of the plugs don't align.
On 1984 the relay gets an extra wire. But it's no big issue.

When you pulled the oscillator is there any chance the wires were grounding or touching one another? That might complete the circuit the osicllator is designed to control and make the "oscilllator" keep screaching.
By the way, thanks for the info on what the oscillator does Kent, I wasn't aware of that!

well i put the oscillator back in, with the new hazard relay in, and there is no more screaching. Thats a good indicator that it was not at fault.
However the moment i put the old relay back in, the buzzing returns.
