If you've built your own exh in the past you can make your own "turbo kit". Besides there are a lot better ways to build a Turbo FB than to to buy a old used, probably not efficient turbo kit. Making a exh manifold isn't that hard to do for a 13b or 12a, makes it real easy when you only have to deal with 2 ports.

Maybe you could explain how you did it?

Well this is where I'm at now with making my manifold. For the full story this is the thread https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...5&pagenumber=1 I started from scratch.

Would a 3rdgen Nissan 300ZX turbo go on that with an adaptor? That'd be enough turbo for a 12A, right? Or wrong?

i doubt it if there the twins. only way to really tell is to get a cfm graph and figure out your motors volumetric efficency.

turbo kit

Andre here, the manifold looks really good. i must commend you on your work...I can give you a little advice, keep the exhaust runners short, this will enable you to spool the turbo quicker...i am using a turbonetics
T66 on a street ported 12A...it ran 347rwhp at 12psi
fuel set up is a haltech F-9 with 680 cc injectors primary
1200 secondary...
just a little word to the wise!
keep up the good work....we have to keep running around the pistons
later

I have a Cartech system in my car currently.

I am looking to upgrade to an air to air intercooler soon though, so this system might be up for sale soon.

I will probably go to TWM throttle bodies from the Weber setup I have now, but I don't know yet.

I will post here is I do sell it.

85rx7gs- thanks for the kind words, hope my link pretty much cleared up your question

andre sinclair- I made the main exh runners that long because thats what riceracing said to do (13"). Doing it this way allowed the gas flow to have a nice straight path out of the engine and also a nice straight path of flow into the turbo. The turbo is a Mitsu TD07 with a 25g compressor and a divided 17cm exh housing. This turbo was on BNR's street FC with just a cast un divided manifold and he said it had good boost responce, can only imagine how much better it is going to be with a divided manifold.
Thats quite the turbo you have there on your 12a, what rpm spread is most of your powerband in? To get 347rwhp from a 12a on 12psi I'm guessing it's up there in the rpm?

Where is everyone getting these header plates from? Are they from a do it yourself kit, or are you using the plate from a rb header? (Just the manifold connecting plate, not the whole manifold). I really don't want to butcher my rb header if at all possible.

you can order just the flange, no need to cut up a header....

I bought a couple pieses of flat plate at a local steel yard, made a pattern and then had a buddy machiniest machine them out for me. But rx7passion is right you can get at least the engine flange from RB, maybe the turbo flange from turbonetics?

Listen to me. Call Bell Engineering Group Inc./ (formerly Cartech) in Texas. 1-(830)-438-2890 and ask to speak to Corky Bell if he is available. The man is a legend (those of you who know who he is) and an expert engineer. He designed all of Cartech's turbo kits and is the founder of the company. I have called him 3 times and actually spoken to him on all occasions. He is a very busy, yet down-to-Earth-I-will-answer-all-of-your-questions kind of guy. Plus, he's kind of old. I recently called to order an oil return gasket for my turbo because it leaked. An old lady answered the phone and let me speak to him. He explained everything concerning the gasket and why it might have leaked and all that. Then I asked him if I could order one. He asked me for my address and all that stuff. I gave him my info and then asked how much it would cost me and if I could pay by credit card. He told me not to worry about it because he has a shitload of gaskets on the shelf. In about a week I received not one, but 2 gaskets in an envelope in the mail. He sent them free and even paid the shipping cost. I called him a week later to thank him and he remembered who I was and asked me if everything worked out with the turbo. Sure enough no oil leaks. I asked him about tuning my carbuerator. I gave him my email address and he emailed me the Weber factory blueprints and all of the jet screw, etc settings for my carb to run perfect with 14psi boost. Every business in the industry should have a man like Corky Bell. The dude is a legend in racing and engineering, and I think my RX-7 would be in shitty shape without him. He's also got 2 published books out about turbos and I think supercharging. So call him up and maybe he can give you a discount on one of the old Cartech turbo kits "off the shelf". The address is BEGI 203 Kestrel Dr., Spring Branch, TX 78070. Good luck!
