Carb from China

First off, I am forced to be cheap, my wife. I have been searching around on the net and found a few cheap options for weber like carbs. I found some that can be ordered directly from China for about 100$, shipping is about the same but it is still half the price of a new weber. Has anyone had any expierence with these? It appears that redline weber carbs are made in China but it also appears no one wants them. Anyone had any expierece with any of these?

That's a great quote.

Personally I would avoid a knockoff carb because theres just too much that could be wrong with it, but that's just me. Keep an eye on the classifieds/ebay I'm sure you'll find something used that's better

spanish IDA's the squirter is push-in and held/secured by a rubber o-ring and its has 3 progression holes. Italian has a screw-in. IMHO, either one is good except I've seen the o-ring go bad, leaks gas.

http://hh-autoparts.en.alibaba.com/p...time&edm_ver=e

http://sfimanager.en.made-in-china.c...arburetor.html

There are many more.

I contacted the companies, all have weber 48's available. The shipping is what got me, it's about 100$. If one wanted too, I'm sure money could be made.

Thanks

I believe so. I think the bolt patterns are mirror images of each other. i'm pretty sure I've seen someone around here recently running one on an IDA manifold with some kind of adapter though. I just can't remember if the adapter was bought or custom fabricated.

I had nothing better to do so I tried finding the thread I saw recently saw (within the last 2 weeks or so) with the IDF on the IDA manifold. so far, no luck.

however, I did come across this one that said the difference in bolt pattern is just where the barrel centers are. so maybe I was mixing up the mirror image thing with something else. anyway, here's this thread for now: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati...cross-1011496/

How do you like the carb? Weber? From my research there really isn't much difference between a idf and a ida, do you know of any? Sad to say but financially I haven't been able to purchase a carb yet. I long for the younger years of no responsibilities. The wife just doesn't see the family value in a new carb.
