mntech,

Congrats on your purchase. I hope you have great luck with your new Rex. That one brought back memories for me as well. I used to have an 85 GSL-SE from 1988-1994 and I miss it to this day. Traded it in when I bought the 88 Anniversary Ed Turbo in '94 that I still own, drive, and have a blast with, but I do miss the '85.

Cody...we know you are extremely frustrated right now but please know that the guys on this thread were all trying to help you. I'm guessing once you calm down that will become clear to you as well. And don't give up! Another one will come along. Hopefully you will find it sooner rather than later.

The only advice I would give is when you see the next ad for one that looks good go check it out as soon as you possibly can. Don't wait at all. Call him up and go see it right away. You wont know for sure if it is the one until you see it in person. Then go with your gut. If it doesn't feel "right" hold out for one that does. When you find the right one you will know. Trust your instincts and then strike quick.

Good luck to you young sir!

(P.S. - I never had any intent to really purchase it when I posted my comment on Page 2 of this thread. But it did look like a great deal to me. My sole intent for posting what I did was to try to get you out there immediately to check it out because I could tell you were really interested and I didn't want you to miss out.)

For now i will keep looking and i will probably tear apart my car and see what a can salvage from this money pit. Again sorry everyone i probabley seem like a huge ******* right now.

Now that you know the story I hope you are done playing the victim. You need to take responsibility for your own actions. After the initial response in this thread you should have been on the phone with the guy. Instead of concentrating on trying to find ways to talk him down before you even seen the car. Even if you did get a chance to try to make a deal you probably would have pissed him off anyway. No one owes you anything and have to wait until you look at a car. You will learn, even though 1st gen guys can be cheap, if there is a good deal they will snap it up as good vehicles are harder and harder to come by.

I have been casually looking for the right car for well over a year. I check Craigslist every day. I came upon this add for a vehicle with no rust, two owners (Grandson got it from his Grandmother), every record since day one, only 77.5K miles and not rust. It needed a clutch and he only wanted $900. I contacted him immediately and after talking to him offered full price. At that time he has only 3 calls and the highest offer was $850 and he said if I give him $875 I could have it. I had to tow it a little over 100 miles and there was in climate weather on my day off and I could not get it. I practically had to make him take a deposit (he said it would not be necessary) but I felt I needed to as this was a GREAT deal. I finally made it up there 3 weeks later and by that time he had 34 emails and 19 calls with some people offering him more. I am happy he was a stand up guy and we did our deal. https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-non-...85gsl-1060262/ You have to jump on these deals when they are there.

I guarantee you, if you stick around the forum, you will see that people where trying to help you and I bet you will look back on this thread and cringe on how you are acting.

I do wish you luck. Just be patient and ask all the questions you need. But when there is a deal and everyone is advising you it is good, jump on it!

I was writing mine and saw your response after I posted. I am glad that you realized you overreacted and I am sure you will learn for this. Just keep your eye out and you will eventually find something.

Heck Cody. I had to buy mine on faith never saw it in person just talked to a mechanic that I did not know and have it shipped from Wisconsin. I was very nervous and it wasn't exactly perfect when I got it. Had to do a clutch and fix the a/c plus the $500 shipping cause there just isn't any anywhere around Mississippi and I'm glad I did. I have one that i love but it has a oil leak but again it's ok. I'll deal with it later. Sometimes ya just got to jump

I know how you feel I had the same situation for a couple 280z is was looking at. I saw this thread while my Dad and I were driving to see it. Like all these users there will be another one, there are RX7 being posted daily for great deals. I hope we can continue our love for RX7 on even ground and hopefully cruise sometime.

Peace, Zach
I'm glad you found the car you wanted. I'm looking forward to hearing about your progress and I think we'd all love to see some higher-res pics.

cody: I've been in your shoes. Stuck with a RX-7 that's turned into a money pit without the funds to spare. I've also jumped on a 7 when the time came because I knew the window was closing. Good luck and don't be afraid to take on a project. No matter what condition you find your next 7 in, that's what it'll be.

Good luck Cody. Keep your chin up and keep looking. Cars like these are hard to find so part of the deal is that you have to enjoy the journey as much as the prize at the end.

Not an RX7 but I have an 1985 Mustang GT in my garage that took several years of daily internet searches to find. Once it showed up, I was first in line with a deposit in hand.
