can't decied on carb setup
iam having trouble deiceding on what carb setup i should go with. iam torn between trying to get a webber / o.e.r wrap around side draft set up or the racing beat holly setup.or the racing beat down draft set up. iam having trouble finding a place to buy the o.e.r or webber setup, the racing beat set ups i can just go to there site and buy it online. any pro or cons comparing one to the othere. iam worried about buying a new webber carb because i have heard they been going down hill.
the motor iam going to be putting this on is going to be 12a street port. i mite deiced to go turbo in down the road but who knows what will come

ok ok i found out ida is down draft style, and DCOE is side draft.
i like the side draft setup better because it would make it easyer for me to turbo down the road.
link for manifolds i found for webber
if you look at the DCOE manifold it says 45 DCOE X1 does that mean i can only use a 45 dcoe they all so sell the o.e.r carb ive heard there easyer to tune and just as good if not better then a new webber.

I'll throw in a +1 for the ida 48, very simple, very effective upgrade, easy to tune, you can turbo them carb hats are available, the float is the only issue(need to modify or replace for turbo apps).

i deiced i'm gonna go with a side draft setup.
i got the super street 08' buyers guide and was able to find a weber 48 DCOE Carburetor for $532.75. i heard that weber has gone down hill since they moved to spain. is that true? is a 48 to big for a street port? i dont know when ill go turbo, but id rather not have to buy another carb set up when i do.
i like the idea of getting a o.e.r carb because i have heard great things about them easy to tune ect. i just found a place that sells them link
would the 50mm be to big.

Basically, the side draft (wrap around intake) lowers the power band down compared to the down draft because of the longer intake runners. I'm going with a downdraft weber 48 (with 37 chokes) for my 12A street port because I want my power band up higher. I was looking at both the holley and sterling but I wanted to the weber to show of the block a little more and I liked the simplicity of the weber. It really comes down to personal driving preferences (and aesthetics...if you're shallow like me)

I guess for a street ported 12a you made a decent choice. My old 12a w/ the weber 48 DCOE Carb set was fun. Just never got it tuned right no matter what I tried. So when I went to a 13b a went Holley and never looked back.

i new about the power band side from talking to rob at rotary shack. i emailed him about the o.e.r intake but iam been having major problems with mac email, tons and tons of the same email being repeated ect. and i hope i didn't **** him off asking stupid questions and my bad spelling.lol. iam a noob ill admit when it comes to carb's ect. but id rather ask dumb questions to fully understand some thing then make big costly mistakes.
i like the wrap around setup because if i deiced to go turbo down the road, i think i could make a nice clean setup. and this is mainly going to be a street car mite do some racing but not sure.

Here's a link to some videos from past autocrosses. I'm running a Sterling carb, and there is some in-car video. Not as good as riding in the car, or driving it, but may give you some idea of the responsiveness and performance. This is all on a stock port, never been rebuilt, worn out motor with 200,000 and some miles on it (eventually died at 213,000). Also, my carb is pretty old and purchased used (one of the early ones I believe). His newer work has a totally different look to them, and (I think) a few more tricks than mine.

Dellorto if you can find one. They have a great choke for cold weather starts. You want a RB prepped one. Downside is they are no longer made but they show up on ebay and here a lot. Very easy to tune, you can change the jets while the car is running. They are DHLA 48 and you just need to get bigger chokes and/or jet changes to feed a street port.
