Making My Gsl-se Factory Wheels Better

I'm thinking of modifying my factory wheels.

Maybe widening them a bit, polishing them, and using wheel spacers to get them closer to the edge of the fenders.

Does anybody have experience with this?

Does anybody know where I can obtain some quality wheel spacers for an SE?

Thanks!

I wouldn't mind seeing how you plan on widening the factory wheels

Widening can be done. It involves cutting the lip off and welding a new band in between. Although for the cost, you might as well just upgrade to an aftermarket set. I was also thinking of getting some wheel spacers to widen the track width and get the OEM + wheels to sit closer to the fender lips, at least until I have the money to get new wheels. Good luck.

From what I understand, they saw the wheels in half, then weld in a band of aluminum.

However, I believe this will cause the wheels to widen INTO the car, not out towards the fenders.

It depends on where in the wheel they put the band. If they put it between the outside lip and the wheel centre then it wil push the lip out and leave the inside the way it is, and vise versa. this would be the way to go, as it would leave your backspacing as stock but also fill out the fenders better.

Yeah but if I'm imagining this correctly, it would look retarded.

yeah it would look retarded if they were stock rims...might as well just buy some better wheels for the price you would pay to achieve wider stock wheels.
