R3 - Renaissance Red Metallic Clearcoat is my guess but I could be wrong.

 

Do the 79s have the paint code on the firewall plate like the 84-85?

 

that doesnt look like a stock color, even really faded it doesnt look right.

 

mine was on a sticker on the bottom of the hood.

 

I've had someone suggest code y5, sonic bronze metallic. Can any one confirm or not? Thanks.

it seems like bronze would be in the not red category? and just thru some looking maybe its not a US color?

i ran across the listing here http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au...odes_mazda.htm which is Australian. no color chip though, so really i don't know.

i'd be tempted to say R3, which is a metallic its kind of a mild red. i can't find a good example pic...

the RH red is just a non metallic red. like the pic
