A/C Relay Replacement - 12a Engine

I have tried and failed to find a current relay for the a/c on my 1985 GS. Has anyone replaced this and know what a current part number would be as the OEMs are no longer carried.

I replaced mine with an after market one, I can post a picture tomorrow. I just added it in the engine bay fender well so it would be easier access.

might be a stupid question, but why would you need a relay?

I'm hooking one up from scratch and was just going to hook up the ac hot wire to the compressor. and the electric fans so they kick on when used, which is ALL the time in S. FL

the relay carries the load instead of the switch.

and that's just fine as long as the switch and wiring can handle the load.

Relays or should I say the lack there of, are the biggest downfall of this gens electrical system . The switches take all the heat, literally. Relays do all the heavy lifting and we don't have any.

look what I found in my attic!!

it looks like from this thread it's just the thing

https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati...wiring-781932/

It has the yellow and blue that go to the wires coming out of firewall on passenger side and length is right. Also has what looks like the plug that goes to the a/c compressor. now I just have to figure where those red and black wires plug in and hope I did not cut off the connector, as I trimmed a lot of the harness.

How many relays should this car have?

I have this one I will use, the one I ordered I think I will use for fuel pump relay as I still have that plug in coming from the harness on the drivers firewall. most other were cut off if not needed and /or hot wires.

I pulled ALL those relays from the inner drivers firewall when doing v-8 conversion. Now I am getting worried.

it's going to be a mess if I have to run a positive to each relay etc. etc. Guess I'll have to untape my pretty harness I cleaned up when doing away with all that stuff.

On th picture I posted the blue and yellow go to the plug on passenger firewall by exhaust

the black plug with 2 wires... one wire goes to the compressor the other goes to a 2 prong male plug with the red wire being the 2nd wire in that plug

can you tell me how you wired itt to the relay please

i wire it and the compressor comes on with the switch on...makes no sense to have compressor always engaged
