He tried doing it on a non-SE suspension and it wouldn't work (so if you thought this was a good alternative to your odd 4x110 bolt pattern... sorry!). Tires were 245/45/16 all the way around. They rubbed a little bit on the front (had to use spacers) but I think some 225/40s would've fixed the problem.

A couple more pics:

lets talk more about your car,
I seen some pics floating around the net before you got it I suppose, it was quite a while ago.

lets see the engine, some close ups of how the exhaust was done, interior, etc....

I always thought it was a v8 the way it had 5 lug and dual exhaust.

Mesh 15" wheels > all on 1st gens. 17" and above look funky IMO, they look WAY too big. I'd say stick with 14 or 15" wheels and you're set.

16's or 17's for me look the best, but if i was to do some circuit sprints then 15's would be the go.
the 17's i hav are no heavier than the aus series3 14in wheel and the diameter with 40 series tryes is no larger, so i cant see that affecting the acceleration.

Our roads in oz can be pretty **** sometimes and ive never come close to bending a rim in the 2 yrs ive had them
the brand is perfmance wheels same as powerslaves 5 spokes on page 4 of this thread.

I`am still running the Crap 13" Rotor rims,with 205 60`s on.Would like to fit 80`s 13" Compomotives,their 8" wide.To bad they cost more the equivalent of $1500 second hand.

Good 17" rims do not decrease performance. The main reason I would go 13" or 14" on the track is the wider availability of good slicks with strong sidewalls. The teams wearing 14" slicks on the track in Australia have typically better handling than the 13" teams though - because of the shorter&stiffer sidewall. Even then, nothing says you can't have two sets! I have a set of 14x6" as well, which will wear slicks for the track, while the 17s will be for the streets.

I have the same rims as AJC13B, Simmons FR17. They are a 1kg increase (including tyre over the stock rim/tyre combination).

Front 17"x7"
Rear 17"x8"

Tyres are Falken GRb - FK451:
front - 205/40
rear - 235/40

Rolling diameter is decreased at the front, increased at the rear. 235s give some really useful grip.

Build quality is second to none, being proudly made in Australia by an Australian owned company . Yes, the roads here in Melbourne are definitely ****, and yet even the three piece rims (typically weaker) I have have been fine - I would be very worried about parallel imported cheap Korean rims however. The rims suit the age and style of the car despite being larger diameter.

My car:

Mike, Looking good! Do you have more pictures of your car, either on a web site or posted? I'd like to see a few more shots with those white wheels.

Sorry for bringing this thread back, but personally, I like the stock 12a rims. They look great IMO. The only other rims that I like are the mesh type BMW rims or the rims that come with the Mariah Mode One body kit.

Oh yeah, nothing bigger than 16" looks good IMO.

ps. Who the hell voted 19"???

I think the 16's are the alaround best. Good performance @ a resonable price.

I can't wait to get my 16x7 Panasports.

What tire size is best for those wheels?

I would say 205/45/16 for a close to stock diameter or 205/50/16 for a slightly larger look.

Thanks, I was thinking about 225/40 depending on how the offset comes out.

I just have to wait and see how the fitment is, I went with what Panasport suggests for my car.
