BEST engine bay Cleaner Ever !!!

Alright here it is ... I've tried everything before ... all kinds of engine degreasers, Spray nine, orange stuff, probably around 5-6 brands and found out this. If you really want to clean it out with 1/4 the time of elbow grease. Then pack yourself up with a few cans of WD-40 Balster. Takes out protective films, grease and everything in a couple of wipes without any real hard scrubbing. I did a part of my engine bay today and what I did in 15 minutes took me almost an hour with other degreasers. THe plus side to this too that I see is that it won't corrode stuff like some engine degreasers do, and protects any bare metals.

I went to the WD-40 site and I'm not seeing a WD-40 Blaster product ? Where did you get it ? Is it in the states ? Is it just WD-40 renamed ? If it works like you say I want some.

I'll give it a try. I was going to use brake cleaner because that seems to cut through anything. The old gunk stuff doesn't work worht $hit anymore, I guess they had to remove all the good ( read environmentally harmful) ingredients over the years until its almost useless. The only draw back I see with the WD40 is that it will leave a film, so I may use the brake cleaner after to get rid of the film. Brake cleaner leaves no residue.

I suppose it would if you left it on there but it evaporates pretty quickly so it probably depends how much of a soaking you give it. Its definitely a solvent so it will interact with painted surfaces. I'm not sure what brand I've been using, whatever cheapest. After all I'm a 1st gen guy

Dangerous thing is WD40 is far more flamable than any engine degreaser!

Old school mechanics used WD40 to source vaccuum leaks (very effective on carbed cars when looking for gasket leaks or cracked vaccuum lines). Spray it where there's a vaccuum source and the engine picks up right away becasue it burns so well. Try it, pull off your vaccuum hose from the distributor and spray som in to see what it does. Now knowing that, how hot is an RX7 exhaust manifold as you're spraying this all over the engine just before going into the close confines of a car wash. Liquid is flamable, but gas is explosive. Make sure you have your change ready for the car wash 'cause you might really need it in a hurry, LOL>>>>> :-)

Simple Green works fine and it's only caveat is that you shouldn't get it on Aluminum 'cause it'll oxidize.

Has done me well so far, and I've done a *ton* of cleaning with different products.

Well dumbass yourself, read the whole f&*%&^&**g thing. WD40 in liquid will turn into a vapor when it comes in contact with hot exhaust. Now also think of how many young people on this forum will grab an aerosol can to soak their engine down as well. F78ck, I'm just trying to give good advice to some young owners who may make a mistake and an ******* like yourself just can't see though it!

I guess that I should add that I did use Simple Green Degreaser on the parts that I didn't want to leave a film on. I though that was something of common sense knowing that it is flamable. and I also did leave my hood open for about 1/2 an hour to dry the parts out and what not.

As far a brake cleaner, I second that it takes paint off. It softens the paint and use it a few times and I guarantee you that your paint will start to look dull even if you don't wipe it (Tried it out on an old red civic (AKA TEST RAT) lol)

I go to the local car wash here (called Duckeys) and use the tire/wheel cleener (the green stuff) that is one of the selections. It cleans everything well and rinses off with no residue(simple green does leave a residue, try wiping it with a cloth after you have rinsed and you will see what I mean).

THe cool thing about this tire/wheel cleaner is that it wont harm paint. I learned this back when I used to drive tow trucks and we needed to get cable grease off of the body of the truck. Spray the stuff on, let it set for a couple of minutes and then rinse. Leaves the paint clean and shiny. This is useful if you want to remove old wax buildupl. The only catch is that you have to wax again after you use it, because it takes the wax right off.

Cleanes engine bay really well and guess what, it actually cleans wheels and tires!!

Later,
Bill

Y'alls are gonna call me crazy, but I have a specific process.
Start with a bit of PBBlaster (yeah, the stuff you use to unstick bolts)
After you wipe that, go in with the simple green. Follow up with WD 40. Hit it with WINDEX. Rinse and repeat if necessary. I can almost garuntee that two cycles of that (with a little bit of the ole EG thrown in) WILL clean ANY engine bay if done properly.
