if your ACV valve is bad it will do that. remember 7's do that. check timing too. also shutter valve i believe could also be another candidate

^right on the money

Exhaust leaks can also cause your car to backfire. Is your car still stock? My car backfired like crazy until i replaced the rusted stock exhaust w/ an RB header/presilencer/magnaflow muffler. Now no more backfires.

i dunno but it works with the air pump. i believe if it stays open then you are supplying all the unburn ed gas in the exhaust plenty of air . air and gas and heat go boom. air control valve closes properly no feed the gas no boom

Thats wierd, i took off the air hose and ran my car for a minute, and it still backfired, my dad pressed that gas as i was looking at the acv and it was working, so I plugged the hose back on and my car no longer back fired, it was the weirdest thing. Anyone know what might of happened?

what's wrong w/ backfiring?? backfiring is coooooollll

my car does the same thing, but i see nothing wrong w/ it... you might want to try direct fire ignition set-up to eliminate most backfiring problems

possibly unclogged it by just removing hose id reccommend spraying it with some lubricant lithium grease or good ol wd40, keep in mind if you have an 83 or b4 this is a common problem that i have read. also at least 20 year old check the hose for peeling or cracking rubber might have got in there i dont think it could hurt to lube it up. good on you though its nice to fix something by not doing anything.huh?

definatly the acv valve, just remove it, do you have to worry about emissions?

get the racing beat block off plate, or if u buy a header from racing beat they include the acv block off plate
