Connect it to the trailing ignitor. What's wrong with the stock tach anyway?

This is just a guess. But, I'd say one is 12V + (probably red), one is ground (black), one is the signal wire from the - side of the ignition coil and the last one is for the dash illumination.

Why dont you just do what Shadetree mechanics did and plug it into your new msd ignition system!

OH! You are part of the billion people who do not have MSD ignition system? TOO BAD!

Go to the Autometer web site and download the instructions. I'm pretty sure they'll help.

Good luck.

dont hook up the 12v (red one0 directly to the battery other wise it will be on 24/7
with the 12v take off ur fuse box and bridge it off somthing that comes on with the ignition eg the fule pump. but dont go bridging too many things off the fuse box.

the black one can just connect to any part of the metal car body, just screw it down with and screw alreayd in the car.

also there will be another wire called the illume wire, this is for the light on it, u will have to bridge this off the wire going to the lights somewere in ur instument panel or dash. but make sure it is on the positive line and not the negative other wise the light aqint working.

According to my haltech and my stock, the stock tach reads about 100 rpm too much, so its a little inaccurate.

At Idle I show 960 on the e6k, on my tach it says like 1100. At about 2500, holding it steady the tach is reading close to 2600. But its ok, I guess.

The stock tacho can be adjusted. There's a circuit board inside the cluster that contains a pot for adjusting the rev buzzer and another one for the tacho. I borrowed my friends Autometer tach to calibrate it so now it reads spot on.
