Forgot to mention that the engine looks great, but like I told Stu "Function before style". If it doesnt run, who cares what it looks like.

When it starts up we will. Sam is getting a butt load of ether to dump down it and try and start it, if that fails, then just push start and let the clutch out. We got a couple FOOMs out of her when I was there, and the compression sounds ungodly great.

Well. I wish I had another hand here right now. It's got to be close to popping off because she let out a good "whoosh" and shot a flame out that damn near set everything on fire! This thing was supposed to be a parts car when I got it. Now I'm putting as much time and effort in it as the Turbo FB!

Still getting some good "pops" out of it, but it just won't take off yet! I'm still thinking the timings spot on. According to the flywheel, front hub, front pulley, and dizzy, she should be perfect. I'm just wondering if it's just taking time for the hard seals to get "seated". With giving everything a good coating in oil during assembly, it might be taking some of the compression away. About like a heavy premix. Too much oil and not enough gas

Haha, I am kidding. It will not start on its own, but push starting it does the trick right now. Runs good but will still need some tuning

For a 1/2 sp-1/2bp, the exhaust note sounds suprisingly good. Super job on getting it set up. What rpm does it idle at?

Right now it is at 2k rpms. The carb is not jetted for the application. Right now, the 600 was jetted for a stock port. I know, it is too big for that, but it ran surprisingly well.

Getting some jets in the next few days. I also have many pictures of the rebuild, so I believe I will make a how-to on rebuilding a 12a since there isn't any.

It took a while to get it there. For some reason it can't start on its own! It only starts on a push start or getting towed and dropping it in 2nd with some gas. Any ideas guys? Timing is spot on, We got spark, fuel is getting there, and exhaust is done up.

EDIT: Also, suggesting ether or starting fluid is out of the question. The motor will just drink it like an irishman at a pub, but without the belching.

Stu. I think I'm pulling the intake back off to check the gasket. Still seems to me like it has an intake leak. This would explain why we would get great fuel in the front rotor, and so-so in the rear when we were just cranking it over. Will let you know how it goes.........

Got some pics of your intake porting. Your exhaust ports look huge. Engine sounds great. The supercharger tames the exhaust note on my 1/2 bridge quite a bit. I noticed when I blew up the charger and had to run a belt around just the alt and waterpump with nothing turning the blower that my exhaust sounded way more aggressive.

I will load up some pictures of the porting in a bit if you guys would like.

Sam absolutely refused to let me notch the housing though.

It was only going to be a wee bit, not even into the seals or anything.

Mmmmmmm. Sexy. Stu, if you decide to start another thread of the engine build, link it to this thread. Once I get the thing tuned and turn key, I'll get some more video. Hard to believe that the old SA has come this far. Stu got a look at what I had thought about putting in this car. I still have the "other" drivetrain sitting in the back of the garage for another project some day. It's a 5.0 with an AOD. Would have been an awsome power plant for the SA, but I think we did okay with the SPBP

Well......Yoday was pretty good. We took the SP+BP SA out for some break in miles. All was well the first 5 miles till...............Blahhh dh dh dh dh............Pulled the car over and looked in the carb. That was disappionting. Gas was poaring in the carb. Don't know what was up with that. So, I hitched a ride back to the house. Stu sat with the car. I swiped the carb of the Turbo FB and put it on there. Got it back to the house. Did a little more tuning. Decided to press my luck. Tried to start it with the key this time. Fired off! Whoohoo! So Stu and I figured what the hell. Let's take her down the road once more! This time was a less eventfull. Other than the giddie smiles and laughs, the old half-bridgie is sounding and running pretty good. So far it's got 50 miles on the break-in only 450 to go!

Oh' yeah. One of my neighbors decided to come over and "talk" to me about the noise. He was trying to tell me that it was the muffler that I had changed making the car loud. I kindly told him that it was the same exhaust that was on the other engine. I tried to opligize and reassure him that I was almost done with the tuning and that I would try and keep it down
