Ben! Haven't heard from you in a while. With a little report from the weekend driving, and the driving around today, I am impressed with how much more power this thing has. I will NEVER do a half-bridge again. I will NEVER build another engine without the corner seal plugs (or go solid corners). The cold and hot starting is way better now. One blip of the throttle is all it takes now. I am surprised at how drivable the full bridge is. Man, I hate that I have this car sold now........

It looks like you used 2-piece apex seals for your bridge port. I was under the impression the corner piece of the apex would "fall" into the port, am I mistaken or did you use a 1 piece apex seal?

I would love to bridge port my engine but I already have my apex seals and don't want to buy more. So I guess I'm asking if I can use my 2-piece apex seals with a racing beat bridge port template.

Sam, if you come down here again, bring an IDA manifold. We'll put my 51 on her for a while.

I keep telling you, K8 is the way to go. That is the color code for the SA too. My favorite

Keep this thread going. Post your progress here also. I would love to see the old girl with new paint. I know she has potential. Just needed someone to finish her up. With how much my FB has killed my wallet, the SA was going to do the same. Good luck. Keep us updated!

well i left an update in one of my threads
the hood situation killed my time last week

my boss had a guy trying to get a job and well i was like if your so good at bodywork you can do my hood
well then it got heated up just a little so i switched it with my fb's hood
then realized **** the undersides rust was unrepairable so i was back with the sa and just had to work it best i could

but how much difference in color did the 8 coats and 2 clear coats change the tint of yours
because i've seen some k8's that don't look as good as yours =/

Typically the apex seals just wear well beyond their limit until they reach a point where they are simply too thin and either fall out, break, or crack. For some reason, the rear rotor likes to go 1st. Some blame the shutter valve, but my car didn't have one.

Even though I was running on half of an engine, I could still drive fine (no power at all, though). No smoke or anything..idle was rough..but you could drive it. It would top out at like 55 mph and would take a long time to even get up to that speed. But I would like to see a piston engine be drivable if it lost half of its pistons/rods..

Idk, i havent heard of an apex seal just fall out or crack for no reason. Even due to age.

I mean i have heard of an apex seal crack because of too much carbon inside the combustion chamber.

That also makes people believe that the seals wear down like brake pads which is not true.

Unless some long time engine builders can chime in on that one.
