Thumbs up Apex N1 dual muffler...?

Anybody know if it will fit (width-wise) on an FB?
I am in need of a new muffler, and i won't have anything but a dual tipped muffler (or in this case, two singles!). the apex N1 seems to be the choice with 3rd gen guys so i guess it'll handle the heat. i fell in love with the N1 dual when i saw it on a 3rd gen over thanksgiving. just wondering if it will fit and what other muffler options are there besides the RB muff.

I too think it would look sweet, but just wonder how loud it would be, since a 3rd gen has a turbo to quiet down the exhaust.

Thumbs up yeah

you know what, i've never had a problem with a car being to loud, but it matters how the sound is. like on my GSL right now, it's loud, but metallic and empty sounding. my friend has a FC with some mods, including a full RB exhaust system with their mufflers. it sounds really really nice. it's loud as ****, but it's deep.
but yeah, the apex N1 dual would look awesome. i would like to look into other duals like that, but i don't know if they would stand up to the heat.

Looks a bit big. Aren't those 3 inch tips? Wil they both fit where the stocker does?

ok now watch out... the 3rd gen set up is a "dual N1" and the 2nd gen setup is a N1 dual. they are diffrent. the 3rd gen dual is 2-60mm tips with SMALL mufflers, the 2nd gen setup is 2 n1's 1 for each side and a n1 is a 90mm tip. I know that the turbo shuts up a rotary and i has behind a FAST t-78 3rd with dual n1 and it was LOUD. I would LOVE to replace my stock stuff with a dual n1 but want to hear it and see it 1st. so if anybody has pics of it on a 1st gen post them PLEASE

damn, you ppl have some good memory. I was hoping youd forget so i wouldnt have to whip out the camcorder.
If its nice tomorrow Ill take the pics. I might even be able to get it on the lift and take pics of the whole exhaust. And if I figure out how to use the recording option on my camera Ill post some quicktime with sound, with and without the silencers.
The only down side to that setup, at least in my car, is that when they installed the mufflers the cut a section of the rear valance(?), that tin piece under the bumper.

You can get both set-ups, N1 dual and N1, for both 2nd and 3rd gens.

The N1 has a 115mm tip and the N1 dual has two 120 mm canisters each with a 90 mm tip. The N1 set-up for a 2nd gen splits the piping after the cat and puts the mufflers in the stock location. They are the exact same mufflers as the 3rd gen, but they just split them up.

If you are still confused, go to A'pexi and try to make sense of it.

BTW, 1FastT2 has dual N1's on his 2nd gen, and they look huge under there.... those cans must be something like 150 mm. He has the pic in his sig. Check it out.

ok this is from rx7 store
"Apexi N1 Dual Exhaust System for 93-95 RX-7 (Info: 120mm canisters, 90mm tips)"
"Apexi N1 Exhaust System for 93-95 RX-7 (Info: 115mm tip, 3 inch piping)"
"Apexi N1 Exhaust System for 86-91 RX-7 (Info: 115mm tip, 3 inch piping)"
"Apexi N1 Dual Exhaust System for 86-91 RX-7 -->Image<--"

so on a 2nd gen its acc. 2 n1 mufflers 2x115mm tips, on a 3rd its 2 90mm tips on 120mm mufflers. ive seen them side by side b 4 and they are very diffrent looking ... diam wise

Hmm.

I'm planning ahead and thinking of a full dual system, non collecting, but that's tough to do with a first-gen because we only have the one tiny muffler area, vs. two for the FC. A pair of these just might do the trick.

I'll wait for someone local to put them on his car so I can hear 'em in person. 60mm tips are still kinda big for my tastes...

I know! Do a trick like hot rodders used to do on their lakes pipes... roll up a bunch of very coarse steel wool and plug it into the exit, and drill a couple holes and run a bolt through the very end to keep it from blowing out. For the street... then you pull it out for racing. Sure it'd be a resctrictive, but you could adjust it by varying how much packing your put in.
