In Vegas, as everywhere else, the best technician for your 7 is you. I've tried to farm out work and regretted it every time. I'm no mechanic, but I've gotten to the point where I just do it myself, it may take me twice as long but it costs half as much and I get to know my car up close and personal.

I'm currently rebuilding the engine out of my parts car, and I didn't have any special tools to take it out. I just took everything that's connected to the engine off. Then we used a tractor to raise the engine out (for 1.3L it's still pretty heavy). The transmission is very easy to pull off, just unbolt and drop it to the ground (tranny is much lighter than the engine). All you need is a good set of ratchets, sockets and wrenches, and remember to take pics of everything and how it goes! I don't have that much background in mechanics, I used to do brakes and that's it!
For Christmas I did ask for a couple of tools though!

There is a guy name Harry that lives in Vegas who knows all abour rotaries. He had a slight problem with his shop partner and was forced to open up his own. If you go to TEAMFC3S.ORG there is a LAS VEGAS thread and just asked any of those guys and they will point you to Harry's new shop.. BTW im leaving for VEGAS tonight!

From what I've heard the car is too low to slide out the trans it would be nice to have a lift. I have a grease pit in the back garage but its full of camping crap If I end up doing it myself I'd probably take all that crap up back in that garage and clean it up a should be easier to take the trans out.

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
Just put it up on blocks. The tranny isn't much more than a foot high. There's nothing to it!
