have my eye on a 91' convertible...

first off, I know NOTHIING of rotary engines-rx7's...
now back to the topic..
I have an eye on the following rx7 which is being sold for $3000 bucks. (can probably work it down to about $2500)

91' convertible, new top/good body, 187 thousand miles on the engine, not a turbo, AUTOMATIC...
the questions are...
if say, this engine has been taken care of decently, how long do rotary engines usually last?

how reliable are these cars?
(reliability is a priority, as I travel to las vegas from los angeles about once a month)

what is the mile per gallon average?

what's the deal with the automatics? at how high rpm, do they usually change gear from first to second? this rx7, was going up to around 5000 rpm before changing to second..

do these cars have problems overheating?

how much do tune ups run? by myself? or does a rx7 technician have to do it?

I don't see any oli under the car when I went to check it out..
please, I know this is a rx7 forum, and as all forum's no matter what brand car they might be a fan of, all of them tend to say, their particular brand of car is the best..
I like mazda's x7, always have, but I need the car to be reliable, I don't intend to race it, or anything of the sort, I need reliability...
this car seems to be in stock shape...
what is the dead honest truth here?
please reply asap.
thanks.
