anyone no what kind of plating yaw uses

hi
does anyone know what the name of plating paul yaw uses when he rebuilds a carb? or is there any advantage to getting the carb plated. just for street use?

I think it's just standard cad plating.... makes it nice and pretty. Some people balk at spending a few hundred bucks for something corroded and nasty looking

Similar to the subject..... What's the best way to clean a carb when rebuilding? Once it's apart, should it soak in some sort of solvent? If so what kind and for how long? I'm about to do my carb so I'm curious. Thanks!

You can buy carb cleaner in a small bucket, and that stuff work well for getting teh dirt etc. off they also sell it in a aerosol can. But the best way to go is iff the carb body is stripped all way down then have it sonic cleaned and then mabe very litely sand blasted on the external things only. but that makes them very clean.

Sonic cleaned eh? Do most auto shops do that sort of thing?

i know you can get it done at some metal plating shops.
thats what i plan to do ...but i dont have any idea how much it will be. to clean and plate it

Sonic cleaning shouldent cost that much. I havent ever had it done, but i am think like around or less than $20. mabe 30 at the most but i dought it.

So you can get anything metal sonic cleaned? I want my carb to look like YAW's on his site... they look sooo nice.

Yaw has his acid dipped then rechromated
i talked to a plating company today..they said it would be about 75 bucks to clean it and plate it

does that mean clean everything inside the carb too? as in all the lines, and hoses, and stuff like that?
