Welcome ot the forum.
At the top of the page there is a sticky as indicated by the yellow exclamation point.
Click on the one that says rules of the 1st gen section. Read that section. It will give you insight on how the forum is set up and also how to use the search function.
Then at the top of the page back on the 1st gen specific section near the top you will see the archives.
Click on that section. That is where we keep stored info that we feel will be useful for further reference.
You will find many threads on the subject you have inquired about.
Use terms like Temp gauge/oil gauge, etc. to find the match for what you are looking for.
After you have done extensively reading if you have more specific questions then just post them up on this existing thread.

I ll help a new guy out I am a picture ***** and would like to know what after market gauges some people arre running and where they are located. I have been needing to add my autometer gauges just not 100% sure where i wanna put them. O and most people run oil temp and presure and coolant temp some may run otheres but i think those 3 are the most important.

i'm trying to play it smart and not do anything to the car till i get some ideas on what to do. i found that with the equus tri gauges i was able to "test" fit the avalible fittings in the back of the water pump housing. i would post a pic of my car but its a joke. i pulled it out of a back yard and it was not taken care of. i figure to use the clock for the volt gauge, the dash one is inop, and i haven't figured a way to do the oil press.

I recently went through this process and with some feedback from the forum came up with what I think is a good solution. After searching the archives and finding little to no useful information on the subject, I posted this thread:

https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/second-water-temp-sender-tip-installation-question-631760/

My new mechanical gauge reads a steady 180 degrees even when my stock gauge is wandering. Here's some pictures:

Fun to do, inexpensive and it works great.

that's the exact gauge i ended up using in my 808 after breaking the stock one off in the rear housing due to paint in the threads from the rebuild. but i put the probe in the wp housing just under the t-stat. and yes it works great. stays steady just before the mark between 180 and 210 at idle with that e-fan i posted about in another thread.
